Procera Networks wins $ 4 Million contract with Global Tier 1 Mobile Operator for Deep Packet Inspection (DPI)                     12 November 2008

Procera Networks, a developer of Evolved Deep Packet Inspection (DPI) solutions providing traffic awareness, control and protection for complex networks, announced that a global Tier-1 mobile operator has selected Procera’s award-winning PacketLogic™ PL10000 platform to optimise its network performance, reduce infrastructure costs and create new services for its mobile broadband customers.

The deal, worth more than $4 million, will include multiple PL10000 platforms that can scale up to 80 Gbps deployed throughout the mobile operator’s network. Procera won this deal against a field of other DPI vendors based on the real-time accuracy and performance of its PL10000 platform.

“We believe this customer win validates both the potential of DPI for mobile operators and the specific approach that Procera is taking toward this technology,” said James F. Brear, president and CEO of Procera Networks. “In particular, we feel the size of the deal is a bellwether for DPI and should facilitate additional moves by other mobile operators.

As mobile broadband services continue to mature and attract millions of users worldwide, we believe that DPI will become a ‘must have’ technology in order to ensure that all users receive their fair share of bandwidth while also reducing the operators’ ongoing infrastructure costs.”

Industry's First Mobile WiMAX Functionality Protocol Monitoring Tool Launched by Tektronix.                                                         30 October 2006

Tektronix announced the availability of the K1297-G35 WiMAX solution, the telecommunications industry's first protocol monitoring platform for functional testing of Mobile WiMAX radio access products that are based on the IEEE 802.16e standard. All indications from the network equipment development labs confirm that the Tektronix K1297-G35 WiMAX protocol monitoring solution will significantly decrease time-to-market as manufacturers of Mobile WiMAX access networks seek to dominate the burgeoning space.

"As network equipment manufacturers and operators consider Mobile WiMAX for reliable high-bandwidth wireless data networks, Tektronix is well- positioned to enable them to deliver mobile multimedia applications and services to subscribers on a mass scale," said Arif Kareem, Vice President, Network Diagnostics, Tektronix. "We lead the market in mobile protocol testing with our dependable network diagnostics products, which assure the highest levels of service quality for WiMAX and other broadband network technologies as they near deployment."

With the increasing momentum of Mobile WiMAX over the last year, network operators have begun charting their plans for deploying mobile broadband networks. Tektronix' WiMAX protocol monitoring solution is the only one of its kind and has already proven its value in equipment manufacturer labs. To ensure compliance with industry standards and further demonstrate its market leadership, Tektronix has become a member of the WiMAX Forum, an industry-led organization dedicated to certifying the compatibility and interoperability of fixed and Mobile WiMAX products.

"Tektronix' WiMAX protocol monitoring solution is a significant milestone because it is the first of its kind to enable equipment manufacturers to bring Mobile WiMAX radio access equipment out of the labs and into live networks," said Jeff Orr, Director of Marketing for the WiMAX Forum. "We are encouraged to see a leading 3G test and measurement company such as Tektronix focusing its efforts on Mobile WiMAX. It's just one more indicator that this technology is on an accelerated path for widespread deployment."

Tektronix' flexible testing platform can be configured to operate with any wireless protocol to help network equipment manufacturers and operators achieve true "any-to-any" device or network connectivity. Over the years, Tektronix' mobile testing and monitoring products have enabled the transition from 2G to 3G with the consistent introduction of first-to-market applications for GPRS, EDGE and UMTS networks. The company is doing the same for next- generation wireless networks by introducing first-to-market Mobile WiMAX protocol monitoring solutions to enable evolution of broadband wireless technology beyond 3G.

Shenick addresses IPTV & Triple Play Performance Issues.    4 Sept. 2006

Shenick Network Systems, an award winning provider of high performance IP communications test systems, announced that it has added significant IPTV and triple play enhancements to the release of its diversifEyeT Version 3.0 software.

With diversifEye 3.0, Shenick is the only IP communications test vendor to provide the degree of granularity required to test overall performance and quality of service (QoS), coupled with the ability to drill down to each IPTV, VoIP and internet user for true quality of experience (QoE) assessment. All functionality is packaged into a single box test system.

Shenick is one of the first companies to anticipate and address the many new real-world deployment issues that the emergence of triple play brought to IP communications. With the new features of enhanced IPTV test, video quality analysis, the addition of VoIP, DHCP and PPPoE protocols, Shenick customers can now test critical IPTV, triple play, broadband services performance and quality issues within a single system. Shenick's diversifEye handles the complete cycle of broadband customer access scenarios from obtaining an IP address via DHCP to establishing PPP tunnels through emulation of real user application traffic flows of multiple IPTV, VoIP, VoD and data applications such as Web, P2P and email.

Shenick will also support real-time (or passive) IPTV video quality analysis on a per IPTV channel basis coupled with active video analysis against a known reference video stream. This enables IPTV service providers to assess video quality on an aggregate or per viewer basis by employing industry standard perceptual quality scoring based on the ITU J.144 standard with IP based video extensions such as V-Factor and PEVQ (perceptual evaluation of video quality).

The addition of real VoIP call generation supporting the dominant SIP standard protocol means that customers can now more realistically assess how each application will behave under live operational conditions in a truly converged triple play environment. In addition to IPTV/Triple Play application test capability, diversifEye's security attack module provides the added realism of DDoS (Denial of Service), Virus, Worm and Spam attacks and the emerging wave of VoIP (SIP) and IPTV (IGMP) attacks.

“Anyone responsible for deploying high quality IPTV and triple play services of voice, data and video needs to be concerned with overall converged IP network performance and the individual customer quality of experience,” said Robert Winters, chief marketing officer, Shenick Network Systems. “Today network resources are being stretched to cope with shared standard and high definition IPTV, video on demand services along with a mix of high speed internet data application and of course, VoIP. Companies rolling out new IP services need to understand their limitations and Shenick's diversifEye provides all the necessary tools to increase confidence levels.”

SIGOS GlobalRoamer Service.                                       11 September 2005

Maser Technology launched a new outbound roaming test service for mobile network operators. The SIGOS GlobalRoamer service will be hosted by Maser Technology in both New Zealand & Australia, and is part of an international network which will be operational in 33 countries and over 80 networks currently.  Expansion is planned to exceed 60 countries worldwide.

Requiring no capital expenditure or equipment, network operators test & verify that voice, voice quality, SMS, MMS, WAP, GPRS, UMTS & data services are available to customers roaming internationally using their own SIM cards. Testing is automatic providing scalable and flexible surveillance via an Internet connection downloaded to an SQL database.

Brad Woods receives SIGOS plaque.

Gareth Jones, Maser’s Managing Director says “Customers expect their services to work everywhere in the world. So, the continuous availability of all services outside the home network is becoming increasingly important in the battle for customers. Just as important, it forms an essential part of a network operator´s revenue.

Roaming service tests normally take place after a problem has been reported and depends upon manual effort and the co-operation of roaming partners. A proactive solution is required to detect roaming problems before there is a problem.

SIGOS allows mobile network operators to verify that all services are available for their roaming customers in remote countries.”

Testing for new 3G services such as Video telephony, handset simulation & push-to-talk services are also part of the Maser Technology's test solution.
